I have been programming Perl for over 15 years. Combined with my general software and project management expertise, there is very little that I cannot accomplish.

Why Perl?

How I Work

I have a multi-OS, multi-version development platform, and can test with Perl 5.6, 5.8, 5.10, and even the upcoming Perl 6, as needed. I am able to use broad experience to quickly pinpoint the most appropriate design. On many projects, there are free 3rd party modules available to reduce development and testing time, and ongoing maintenance effort. I will begin with appropriate recommendations and an efficient design. You can be assured that your application's code will be well-documented, concise, efficient, reusable, extremely robust, and warning-free.

While I have personally worked with some truly gifted developers in the fray, unfortunately quality and reliability can be extremely hit-and-miss among companies and individuals whose primary selling point is a low hourly rate. I have been hired on numerous occasions to rewrite poorly designed code left behind by entire teams of "experienced" developers.

Perl and its related technologies are easy to learn, but difficult to master. I care more about writing elegant, correct code, and care less about the financial bottom line; I will keep working until your job is done to a very high standard, even if that means putting in additional hours at my own expense.
